In a significant step toward sustaining local health initiatives, the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) recently turned over essential medical materials and supplies to barangay health centers and rural health units (RHUs) in Quezon and Cavite. These activities mark the culmination of the Kalusugan Una sa Lahat (KUNA) Project, which aimed to strengthen grassroots health systems through localized partnerships and capacity-building.

On August 21, 2024, the Quezon Learning Community conducted the handover ceremony for the medical materials and supplies to the Guinayangan RHU and seven barangays where the KUNA Project was implemented. Former Mayor Isaac and RHU Nurse II Myrna Ornedo expressed their gratitude to IIRR for its continued support of the local government’s health projects, emphasizing how the resources will help bridge gaps in service delivery.

Earlier, on June 10, 2024, the official turnover of materials to the health centers of barangays in Silang, Cavite was also conducted. Representatives from each barangay health center received the materials, which are intended to assist in improving the quality and reach of their health services. The ceremony was witnessed by officials from the Office of the Municipal Vice Mayor, affirming the local government’s commitment to community health.

While Project KUNA officially concludes, IIRR reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the capacity of local partners and supporting their efforts to deliver sustainable and inclusive health services. The upcoming turnover of materials for additional barangays in Guinayangan is also underway, ensuring the benefits of the project reach more communities in need.
