Environment

The Environment Program is dedicated to enhancing climate resilience and improving community well-being through three key areas: Mangrove and Peatland Conservation, which aims to enhance climate resilience and improve the well-being of local communities by implementing community-based ecosystems conservation and restoration; Climate Resilience Building, which aims to enhance the adaptive capacities of smallholder farmers to climate change; and Nature-based Climate Solutions, which aims to establish a conducive environment that supports actions, learning, and sharing related to inclusive nature-based climate solutions

The Program and its Projects

Improving Coastal Resilience and Ecosystem Services through Biodiversity Restoration (ICORE)

ICORE, funded by the UK Government through the Darwin Initiative, aims to demonstrate how a small municipality can restore coastal ecological resilience and reduce poverty. The project focuses on rehabilitating mangrove and coastal ecosystems by creating biodiverse and multi-strata bio-shields that support livelihoods and protect communities from climate change risks

Building Ivisan Organizations along Shoreline for Inclusive Environment Friendly and Low-Carbon Development (BIOSHIELD) Project

The Building Ivisan Organizations along Shoreline for Inclusive Environment Friendly and Low-Carbon Development (BIOSHIELD) Project, funded by ADM Cares, aims to rehabilitate Ivisan's Coastal Mangroves to ensure fisheries and provide bio-shields against the ravages of climate change. It focuses on improving livelihood sources through food diversification for communities in mangrove areas in Ivisan, engaging communities in disaster preparedness, and developing knowledge and good practices.

Building an Evidence Base for Inclusive Nature-based Climate Solutions in Small-scale Aquaculture for Sustainable Aquatic Food Systems in the Philippines and Cambodia (AQUADAPT-PHILCAM)

AQUADAPT-PHILCAM, funded by IDRC-Canada, seeks to build an evidence base for inclusive, nature-based climate solutions in sustainable aquatic food systems through collaboration with academic and research institutions in the region. It spans two countries: the Philippines and Cambodia.
