SILANG, Philippines (August 5, 2025) – Local government units (LGUs) in Batangas and Quezon are taking key steps to improve community nutrition through the 2025 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro).

Conducted with the National Nutrition Council (NNC) and supported by partners including the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR), the evaluations provided LGUs with actionable recommendations, highlighted best practices, and identified opportunities to strengthen local nutrition programs in line with the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023–2028.

Through the MELLPI Pro process, LGUs received guidance to enhance program delivery, ensuring interventions are evidence-based, accountable, and responsive to community needs.

The evaluations focused on improving nutrition outcomes for all life stages, particularly the First 1,000 Days, paving the way for more effective local nutrition strategies and healthier communities.
